New York City Girls Soccer Club: Pioneering Girls’ Soccer in Brooklyn

New York City Girls Soccer Club proudly stands as the first all-girls soccer club in Brooklyn, New York, dedicated exclusively to serving young players ages 2–11. Founded with a clear mission to create a welcoming, empowering, and developmentally balanced soccer environment for girls, the club has become a cornerstone for families across Brooklyn seeking quality soccer programming designed specifically for girls.

When New York City Girls Soccer Club first launched, its focus was on introducing the game to the youngest players. The club began by offering soccer classes for girls ages 2–5, emphasizing fun, movement, confidence-building, and early motor skill development. These foundational classes were designed to spark a love for soccer in a supportive, all-girls setting. As interest and participation grew, the club expanded its programming to include classes and structured development opportunities for girls ages 5–11, allowing players to continue their soccer journey as their skills and understanding of the game evolved.

Today, New York City Girls Soccer Club serves multiple Brooklyn neighborhoods, including Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Dumbo, Williamsburg, and Flatbush. Each location offers thoughtfully designed programs that balance skill development, teamwork, and enjoyment of the game.

In Park Slope, the club hosts a wide range of programs at J.J. Byrne Park, Park Slope Playground, and Dean Street Playground. These locations are home to soccer camps, afterschool programs, and soccer clinics for girls, providing year-round opportunities for players to train, learn, and play in familiar community spaces. The Park Slope programs are especially popular with families seeking consistent, high-quality soccer instruction close to home.

In Dumbo, New York City Girls Soccer Club utilizes Cadman Plaza Park and Brooklyn Bridge Pier 5 Park to host soccer classes for girls ages 2–11. These scenic waterfront locations provide an exciting environment for young athletes to develop their skills. Each summer, the club also hosts its annual girls’ summer soccer camps at Brooklyn Bridge Pier 5, bringing together young players from across Brooklyn for days filled with soccer, learning, and fun.

Williamsburg is home to the club’s afterschool soccer programs for girls ages 5–11, hosted at the William E. Sheridan Playground in Brooklyn. These programs allow players to continue developing their skills after the school day ends while building friendships and confidence in an all-girls team setting.

In Flatbush, New York City Girls Soccer Club offers afterschool programs at Caton Park, providing accessible soccer opportunities for girls in the neighborhood. The club also occasionally hosts programs at Wingate Playground, further expanding access to girls’ soccer in central Brooklyn.

At its core, New York City Girls Soccer Club is committed to offering affordable and balanced soccer programs for all girls in Brooklyn who want to learn and enjoy the game. The club’s structure is intentionally designed to provide a steady and supportive learning environment, ensuring that every player is given a fair opportunity to grow, participate, and succeed—regardless of prior experience.

Currently, the club’s soccer academy serves over 75 girls, with registration opening to additional players each Spring and Fall season. As Brooklyn’s first all-girls soccer club for this age group, New York City Girls Soccer Club continues to lead the way in creating inclusive, empowering soccer experiences for young girls throughout the borough.
